Hi friend,
It has taken me over 10 years to figure this out, but finally we’re connecting here. If you're reading this on gmail and it appears in your Promotions tab, please drag it to your Primary inbox. Thank you.
Reminders is going to be an outlet for my writing. It will include ideas, talks, essays, updates and notes I’d like to share.
I rarely share my thoughts on social media, but a recent post about the AI-image generating tool Dall-E sparked a debate, a follow-up did the same. The response made me realize the need to articulate AI from the artist’s perspective. There’s plenty of writing on how enticing this technology is, but very little about what it really means for art and artists. This, among many other subjects, I am excited to explore here.
Truthfully, I have no experience writing newsletters, and it might take me some time to find my voice. On social media I have often adopted a non-serious tone, it has always been a playground to me. This is not that.
Over many years of traveling and speaking, I found that most of my audience are also creators, so at some point I stopped talking about myself and started describing the creative process. This was much more work and I found it difficult, but I stumbled on this review, and felt encouraged to continue down this path.
One pandemic later, it no longer makes sense to share thoughts one event at a time, so the plan is to write to you here. If you aren’t interested, please smash that unsubscribe button. I understand if you have to.
Otherwise, I look forward to this new adventure.
Speak soon.
Came for the inspiration,
Stayed for the discourse.
Keep going.
I remember we meet during Bitsummit a few years back. Chatting with you and Greg was one of the most intelligent conversations I've ever had.
Your recent discussions about AI-generated Art and the repercussions it will have on the Art world has me intrigued and concerned.
I agree with what you've said and I also feel what is happening is theft. I wish there was some level of encryption made to protect artists. although it seems impossible now that the cat is already out of the bag.
Anyway. Thank you for doing this my friend. I'm excited to be here and to hear what you have to say.
